John Murtha said on ABC’s Nightline that the war in Iraq was the wrong war for President Bush to launch. Murtha, a Vietnam veteran with the Marine Corps, was asked “Would you join (the military) today?” To which he replied “No”. The interviewer continued with “And I think you’re saying the average guy out there who’s considering recruitment is justified in saying ‘I don’t want to serve’.” “Exactly right,” said Murtha.I’ve got news for you, Murtha is exactly right in one respect. The average guy does exactly what he said – they consider recruitment. The people who volunteered to enlist in the military today are not average. They are extraordinary men and women who sacrifice so much so that we could be free.
