Obama’s Vegas Vacation
The Senate Majority leader, Harry Reid, has a fundraiser planned at Cesar’s Palace on the Las Vegas Strip. He’s planning on having headliners, like Bette Midler and Sheryl Crow perform at the event.
Oh yea, he’s also having some guy named Barack show up too.
The trip to Vegas for Obama is a complete 180 from his position on “corporate excesses”, back when bailout recipients were planning trips to Sin City for their high performers. The President was even quoted as saying “You can’t get corporate jets, you can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer’s dime” when talking about the corporate excesses.
I guess he changed his mind.
After all, it’s the taxpayer who footed the bill for the Air Force One photo-op flyover of Manhattan. And come to think of it, it’s also the taxpayer who is footing the bill for the President to fly out to Las Vegas.
I guess we shouldn’t complain though. It’s not like he’s taking the trip to further any “excesses”. I mean Harry Reid has only raised a little over $3 million for his reelection campaign. I suppose that might not be enough if he were running against someone who had a chance of winning. But he’s not.
The President has “flip-flopped” more in the first few months of his presidency than John Kerry did during his entire campaign against George W. Bush, and is leading with the “do as I say, not as I do” mentality, which is prevalent throughout the Democratic party.
I just pray that the important issues on the President’s desk don’t take a back seat to this fundraising initiative that he has decided to undertake. Just think how bad President Bush looked when he “didn’t panic little elementary school kids” on September 11th. God forbid, President Obama interrupts a pointless fundraiser to attend to other national security issues.

The Snackwell Effect
The “Snackwell Effect” gets its name from the low-calorie snack food. People on diets were found to eat a lot of low-calorie foods, which in aggregate ends up being many more calories than what’s found in a regular snack.
The same holds true for all of this “going green” energy efficient nonsense. People who buy energy efficient appliances, such as washing machines typically end up with an energy bill after they install the appliance, which is equal to, if not greater than their bill prior to installing the appliance.
How can this be? After all, its rated to be energy efficient so they shouldn’t see a higher energy bill right? Well, in theory, yes this is true. But because of the Snackwell Effect, people are using these appliances much more than they would use their regular “non-energy efficient” appliances, and ending up using more energy in the process.
This isn’t a new phenomenon either. Back in the 1800’s, the introduction of steam engines produced a new, more efficient way of producing energy. This, in turn drove demand and cost for coal down. With lower coal prices, more people began to be able to afford to use coal, and this ultimately ended up driving the demand for coal back up.
In my opinion, the vast majority of people who are pro-green energy, are not really in it for the environmental impact. They’re into this because they’re cheap.
Think about it this way. When people replace all their old appliances with energy efficient ones, where do the old appliances end up? People don’t stop to think about this. Usually when someone comes to install the new appliance and takes away the old one, it ends up in the dump. It doesn’t get recycled, or anything like that. As a matter of fact, there’s nothing “green” about the whole process. At the end of the day the owners of the new energy efficient appliance feel that they’re doing something good for the environment, simply because it might save them a few dollars.
The bottom line: America has the energy munchies. Put the cookie down. You don’t need it!

Shape Up Automakers…Or ELSE!
President Obama told the US auto industry to shape up, because we can’t keep a permanent flow of cash into their hands. Essentially, he said the bailout funds are going to run dry for the auto industries, if they don’t show that they have a plan to save themselves.
In the same speech, however, President Obama also said that we won’t let the US auto industry simply vanish. To me this seems contradictory.
The short deadlines given to Chrysler and GM, are forcing moves such as a potential merger with Italian automaker Fiat. This may not be the best move for Chrysler, but given the accelerated deadline, it may be their only option. It seems to me as if the Obama administration is forcing the US auto industry to make hasty decisions, for possibly no other reason than to gain popular support from the public.
Granted these companies, in my opinion, wrongfully took taxpayer bailout funds, and should have to be held accountable for what they do with the money. I just don’t think that it makes sense to force them to make moves for the sake of “getting something done”.
Sometimes good things come to those who wait.

Are We Headed for a Welfare State?
With the proposed programs in the Obama administration’s budget, it appears as if we’re on a collision course with becoming a socialist state. European countries have been on this path for decades, with universal health care and other similar programs.
The question one has to ask is, has any of these programs worked? And in order to answer that question, you have to define what the expected result is. If the result is to have everyone pay for everyone else’s health care, for example, then the program is a failure. If it is to give everyone access to health care, then again the program is a failure.
In the UK, taxpayers fund the government sponsored health care system where everyone has “access” to health care. I say “access”, because, yes everyone is “entitled” to health care for “free”, it just depends on how long you have to wait for it.
It is perfectly reasonable for one to assume that if you have a potentially fatal disease, you should be moved to the front of the line, and you receive top priority. However in the UK, they work on a quota system of sorts. What this means is the government budgets for a certain number of open heart surgeries, brain surgeries, and other like treatments each year. Once the quota is met for the year, anyone waiting for treatment has to wait until the next year. Even if they are at risk of dying before being treated.
So is this what we want? In an on-demand society that complains about a 3 hour wait in the emergency room, do we want to wait months to be treated for serious illnesses?
Hospitals are businesses like any other, except they also accept insurance as a form of payment. If you don’t have insurance, they’ll put you on a payment plan. While this may be financially difficult to those without insurance, it shouldn’t force everyone else to have to pay higher taxes.

We’re in Trouble Now
rea‧son‧a‧ble adj.
1. agreeable to reason or sound judgment; logical: a reasonable choice for chairman.
2. not exceeding the limit prescribed by reason; not excessive: reasonable terms.
3. moderate, esp. in price; not expensive: The coat was reasonable but not cheap.
4. endowed with reason.
5. capable of rational behavior, decision, etc.”The American people have put their feet on the right path by … realizing their president’s betrayal in supporting Israel,” Abu Hamza al- Muhajir, the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, said. “So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections.”
This is a person who wants nothing more than to kill as many American troops as possible. I’m sure if he gets the opportunity he would kill you and I in a heartbeat. Why you ask, as if there is a “reasonable” explanation? He, and others like him want us dead simply because we are Americans. He is also praising the American people for the recent Demorcatic win in the House and Senate in the past election, calling it “something reasonable”. If this is the voice of reason the American people are listening to, I must be the most illogical person around.
There’s really nothing more to say other than that we really are in trouble unless the Democrats can wake up and agree that the threat against us is real, and unless we continue to fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, the fight will come back home.
Remember 9/11.

Public Service Announcement – Don’t Buy This Stamp!
The United States Postal Service has a “EID Commemorative” first class stamp, honoring the Muslim holiday. According to the USPS website it’s been out since 10/10/2002 – almost a year and a month to the day that Muslims leveled two skyscrapers, caused severe damage to the Pentagon, destroyed four commercial airliners and killed about 3,000 innocent citizens. Ridiculous.

Post Election Whining
It’s been a week since the election, and we’re already hearing ridiculous cries from the left about how Bush stole the election, as well as several demands for a re-count. I can honestly call these cries “ridiculous” because none of the accusers have the guts to bring their case to court as they did back in 2000. They know they won’t win, so all they can do is complain that things didn’t go their way.According to the Associated Free Press, Madonna made an appearance on BBC Radio, saying:
“I just don’t want American troops to be in Iraq, period…My feelings are ‘can we just all get out?’…Global terror is everywhere. Global terror is down the street, around the block, Global terror is in California. There’s global terror everywhere and it’s absurd to think you can get it by going to one country and dropping tons of bombs on innocent people”
- Cry me a river! She then goes on to say:
“We have people who don’t want to think, and who just want to guard what is theirs, and they’re selfish and limited in their thinking and they’re very fearful in their choices.”
Oh, ok we’re the ones who don’t think. According to global terror expert, Madonna we have global terror in California. Since when? The last terror attack on our country took place in Manhattan, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. Maybe she knows something we don’t.
In my humble opinion, Madonna really isn’t the global terror expert that she is making herself out to be. So what I’m going to do for her, and everyone else who thinks like her, is give a very simple analogy that even she can understand.
During the summer, often times you’ll find ants inside your house. What’s the first thing you do when you see these ants? I know the first thing I do is step on the ones I see inside the house, and spray around the house to make sure no more get in. I may even call the exterminator to spray all around my yard just to make sure that no more ants will make it into my house. Now think about the same scenario, but instead of ants, we’re talking about terrorists, and instead of my house, we’re talking about the U.S. It makes sense, that when we find terrorists inside the U.S., we arrest them to take care of the immediate problem. I think even Madonna would agree with this. The next logical step is to increase security around the borders, so that no more terrorists can get in. Finally, we call in the “exterminator” (a.k.a. military forces) to take out any other potential threats around the world.
What Madonna and the rest of the far left don’t understand is that President Bush saw a potential threat in Iraq. He saw a dictator who refused to allow weapons inspectors into the country under their terms, and who also paid large sums of money to the families of suicide bombers, when they attacked places such as Israel. After 9/11 Bush began the process of sweeping terrorists out of the country, and eliminating potential threats around the world. Bush knew the danger that Saddam Hussein was to the U.S. With plenty of willing suicide bombers, and a hatred for the United States, Saddam didn’t need to have any ties to Al-Qaeda to justify a preemptive strike on Iraq.
Madonna, why don’t you and the rest of Hollywood just “Shut up and Sing!”

Why do we Celebrate?
This coming weekend is Fourth of July weekend. Millions of Americans are going to celebrate by going to watch the fireworks or have a cookout with some close friends and family. But other than the fact that some of us may have a 3 day weekend off from work, why do we celebrate this holiday?Let’s think about what caused this great nation to gain it’s independence from England. When the American colonies were under British rule, the Colonists were forced to pay high taxes on goods and services. They almost never received any benefit from paying the tax, as the money was sent thousands of miles across the Atlantic to England. After several failed peaceful attempts to gain some representation in the British Parliament, the Colonists felt as if they were trapped in a corner and felt that something drastic needed to be done. Granted not all Colonists felt this way, many were content with the way things were, wanting nothing more than just being able to go about their lives with as little disruption to their daily routine as they had for so many years. But there were some brave men who stepped forward, and voiced their opinion. Men such as Washington, Jefferson, Madison and others stepped forward to lead the colonists to a better life, where the government would have a minimal interference with their everyday lives.
After years of war, the Colonies finally were free from British rule. The war for Independence however did not come cheap. The Colonists called upon many of the content and not-so-content citizens to join the fight, many of whom died fighting for a cause that they would never be able to reap the benefits from. But they did so anyway. These people for the most part were just ordinary people. They came from all walks of life, but no matter what their profession they all had one thing in common. They were soldiers fighting for freedom. They constituted a militia force that could walk away from the battlefield at anytime, but didn’t. Even when they were fighting a losing battle, they fought on.
This is why we celebrate. We’re celebrating the birth of a nation, which allowed its citizens to truly be free. Americans during the first years of this nation’s history enjoyed more freedom than any other people had ever enjoyed in the civilized world.
The freedoms that the early Americans enjoyed are slowly being withered away, almost to the point that we’ve come full circle, as if we were still under British rule. We get taxed, granted it’s with representation, but still taxed, and most often those paying the tax never reap the intended benefits from it. The wealthy pay a hefty percentage of their income that funds programs that are not intended for them to benefit from, and some liberals like Hillary Clinton want wealthy Americans to pay more. Our freedom of religion is under attack, where it’s looked down upon when a school recites a pledge that contains the word “God”. Our Second Amendment rights are being violated everyday, but there are few who speak out against those who wish to confiscate guns from law abiding citizens. Illegal aliens are not only being allowed to cross into America, they’re being welcomed in as long as they don’t “break the law” while they’re here.
Celebrating our nation’s independence is a great way to remember the past, and those who sacrificed so much so that future generations would have a better future. But we have to remember that our freedoms can’t be taken for granted. No matter who you are, or where you come from, you must follow in the footsteps of our forefathers and petition the government when you observe actions that take away essential freedoms, such as religion, speech and the right to bear arms. If you petition goes unheard, speak louder. One person may not change a politician’s mind, but larger numbers will. Get your friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers and anyone else who will listen to speak out against violations of our freedoms. If your collective voice still remains unheard, “the tree of liberty,” as Thomas Jefferson once said, “must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” While this means is certainly undesired, in the most extreme situations is absolutely necessary. Luckily for us, the time to refresh our tree of liberty through less than peaceful means has not yet arrived. But it could, and again the success or failure of those who wish to protect our freedoms will come from volunteers. People who have never fought for anything more than better service at a restaurant will fight a battle to preserve the freedoms that they once knew.
So this weekend, celebrate the birth of this great nation. Remember the past, and those who fought for your freedom, but also remember the future. Remember that if, God forbid, the time comes for another revolution, it won’t be someone else’s battle like you see on CNN in distant lands. It’s going to be you, your friends, neighbors, relatives, co-workers and complete strangers who will be fighting. Have fun this weekend, but remain vigilant.

Battle of the Acronyms
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have launched a campaign against Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) claiming that they use cruel and inhumane methods in the breeding, living arrangements and ultimately slaughtering of the chickens they sell. PETA will be distributing “Bloody Buckets” that resemble the red and white buckets KFC serves it’s chicken in. Inside the “Bloody Buckets” are fake bones, blood and feathers, a plastic chicken with it’s throat cut and a devious looking Col. Sanders figure holding a knife to a terrified chicken. To top it all off these buckets will be handed out to children who frequent the restaurants nationwide, as well as to children who attend schools near KFC restaurants.
Let’s see where these people have their priorities. They claim that KFC’s suppliers are cruel when handling their chickens, by starving them to death, and forcing them to live in cramped cages, among other things. Then, they fill buckets with items that even I would find to be pretty disgusting, and hand them to little children. They are so concerned with the welfare of the chickens, that they forget about the cruel way they convey their message to children.
This isn’t the first time that PETA has attacked fast food restaurants either. They attacked McDonalds in an 11 month campaign with “Unhappy Meals”, Burger King over six months and Wendy’s over two months in similar campaigns. Those companies finally cracked and complied with PETA’s requests of minimum standards of animal welfare. The Safeway grocery store also succumbed to similar pressure.
A KFC spokeswoman announced that PETA is participating in “corporate terrorist activities” and that KFC, like the U.S. Government will not negotiate with terrorists. In my opinion, not only should they not negotiate with PETA, but they also shouldn’t tolerate their behavior. I would have every activist trying to get KFC to change their ways arrested, or at the very least escorted off of their property. There is no reason for KFC to put up with people on their property who are doing nothing but hurting their business. If they want to stand across the street and scream about animals rights, looking like a bunch of idiots, where there will be a minimal effect on KFC’s business, fine.
Congratulations to KFC for sticking to their guns. There will always be extremists trying to get mainstream society to change their ways, it doesn’t mean that we have to though.
